The Cinco de Mayo and Flores de Mayo

While checking my mail I end up reading this “Cinco de Mayo” which interests me and speaking of “de Mayo” it reminds me of “Flores de Mayo” (the flowers of May) when I was still in Philippines. I remember when I was elementary, the little kids go to the little chapel or in the church to pray and sing heavenly song and after that the one who handled the kids will give food to the kids or snacks. There will be also called “procession” which people walked into the road together with “mama mary” (virgin mary) and sing a song. This “Flores de Mayo” celebrated during month of May but I do not really know what really the date starts. If you wanted to see the pictures and know about this "Flores de Mayo," you can check in here at philippinecountry.com/philippine_festivals/santacruzan.html.

In Cico de Mayo ("The Fifth of May" in Spanish) commemorates the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza over the French occupational forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. It is a common misconception that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day, which is celebrated on September 16th ("Dieciseis de septiembre" in Spanish), but actually it is a celebration of the battle. It is celebrated throughout the United States. To find out more about this, you can check in this site en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Puebla
